چکیده

Abstract Over the past century, there have been remarkable changes in appreciation of T.S. Eliot (1888–1965). From interwar years up to 1950s, he was for decades an icon high culture and outstanding moral values, everything that is beautiful good deserves admiration; while from 1970s onwards became a symbol completely different kind: one elitism conservatism, wrong condemnation. twenty years, gradually more balanced view has established. In this article I outline development, relate it general cultural climate, argue that, hundred after publication his major poem The Waste Land (1922), remains highly significant us both as poet critic.
